I have a theory that everyone from New England gets a little bit obsessed with fall (or everyone who’s not going back to school, anyway). All four seasons here are pretty unique, but there’s nothing quite as special as autumn in this part of the world: the chaotic patterns of leaves on the sidewalk; the blue air after the afternoon rain; or running at night under a giant, pumpkin-colored moon.
My newest playlist was inspired by all of those things, and by the idea that this season of hibernation and change is not really about death, but letting go, and rebirth. Thus, it features a lot of new music, including some of my favorite 2014 songs from Perfume Genius, Royksopp & Robyn, Banks, Austra, SOS, and more. There are also some seaonally-appropriate classics from artists like Planningtorock and Nick Cave (anyone else see 20,000 Days on Earth?), and, in honor of the return of Twin Peaks, a little bit of Lynch/Cruise/Badalamenti dark magic. Enjoy.
