Super-group Freebass, formed by bass guitar legends Peter Hook (Joy Division, New Order), Mani Mounfield (Stone Roses, Primal Scream), and Andy Rourke (The Smiths), will finally release their first full-length album…a few months after deciding to breakup.

“Recent events have made Freebass entirely unviable as a band, and with this in mind, it has been decided that the project should be shelved, rather than placed on hiatus while members pursue their other interests. We hope that people will enjoy the album, which concludes five years of work and treat it on its own merits. No third parties were involved or harmed in the break up.”, says the official statement from the band.

According to the band’s publicists, “The LP features a heady mix of styles spanning from alternative and dance rock to dub and Northern soul. In addition to the debut EP and LP, Freebass have also digitally released three EPs; You Don’t Know This About Me – The Arthur Baker RemixesTwo Worlds Collide – The Instrumental Mixes, and the Fritz von Runte Freebass Redesign. All of these will comprise the bonus disc included with the US CD release of It’s a Beautiful Life on December 7th.”
